Exhbition Set up

Heres a picture of our exhibition set up:

We decided that we wanted to set the exhibition up so that it gave the impression of a living room. We hung sepia photos in photo frames, with the intention of enhancing the idea of a living environment.

We put saw dust around the base so that it gives the impression of the idea of disintegration and also scattered photos which were burnt from the door.

Guinness Advert

This is an animation by Shilo for Guinness. I've posted this because the impression that I get from the piece is all about the idea of progression and the idea of a journey, which is the basis of our own idea.

Digital Test

This is a digital test of how the piece will build up. In this short test we have added imagery, (all digital), to gauge an idea of how the piece could work. The soundtrack may be a possible choice for us in terms of audio, however at this time just a test.

The soundtrack that I have added here is the one that Allanah found previously. I think that the sound track works well in terms of how the piece builds, as you get a sense of progression.

Our Exhibition Space

Below is a photo of the space that we have been allocated for the exhibition:

Here is a little mock-up floor plan of a possible layout. The box in the corner represents the TV and along the back wall there could be 4 images. We have decided that we are going to have 4 printed images. Each image will be a photo which shows each one of us throughout different stages of creating the final piece.

Photos of Us Throughout Project

Here's some action shots of us throughout the project!

New York Slideshow

Here are some images that I thought were relevant to our project. I found these in China Town and Soho in New York. These images show the idea of stickers and graffiti etc building up, which is similar to the process of how our piece builds up.

6 year photo

85 years in 40 seconds

Anyone know how they do this? Thought it was pretty cool. Bad choice of music though.

Rsearch

I thought this was amazing, well made me laugh. Love the things you can do with stop motion.

Background music research

Another Board of Canda song, this one already has background noise in it which is part of the song, might be quite cool to add on it with sound effects we've looked at.

Background music research

Boards of Canada - Chromakey Dreamcoat has quite a nogalstic feel to it which I think would be fitting to the video.

Background music research

I like this song called adventure.exe by final fastasy, it's quite uplifting. This is isn't very long and could be a possibilty for the merging of two songs we were on about.

Radiohead: Wolf at the door

Here is a stop motion video i found relevant to our collaborative idea.

Possible Music

I was listening to music yesterday and whilst listening to this piece by the Gorillaz, I thought that it would be interesting to see how different pieces could give different feelings.

After we had a chat this morning we were talking about how different pieces would allow the audience to feel different things. This piece is very uplifting and I think would give a different feeling. We were chatting about how we could mix track and blend them into each other as we get to different areas within the stop motion piece.

Def Poetry

I've posted this piece becias the idea revolves around animation emerging form a Sketchbook and this is how our idea for the final piece started to develop. In terms of our stop motion piece we considered how elements could evolve form something such as a sketchbook and take the viewer on a journey through the persons life. We looked at how as the pages of the sketchbook turned we would see animated asspects emerge from the pages in either 2D or 3D.

http://shilo.tv/#/work/hbo+def+poetry/

Our idea then developed into the idea of how we could represent a persons life. Looking at showing how we could represent what happens to a person on the door and actually seeing and hearing what incidents happen to the person.

Doors from New York

Here are some photos that I took last week in New York. These photos in particular are showing different doorways which I think resembled the style that we are trying to achieve.

Memory Boxes

One of the concepts behind this project, was that people tend to have a box full of memories from their life. Whether it is photographs, tickets, letters, labels etc.
I was looking at what other people collect. how they keep it away in a box and why people actually keep these things, even though they might of fallen out with the person it represents etc.

Cool Door

What an idea for a door! This is a photo that I took whilst in New York last week. It's an image on the side of the lorry, which looked extremely realistic in the flesh! There was also an image of a roller shutter door on the back, which there were four men standing looking out the back.

This advert was for a courier service. The advert was a great piece and very memorable, which as a brand is definitely what you want.

Apologies for the out of focus image, New York drivers hey!

Origami

Our first major idea was to have a Chinese Whispers theme which would include origami elements moving via Stop Motion.
There are some really cool things that we could of made if we had continued with this idea.

LoFi Boheme

This stop motion is quite quirky, but i really really like it!
The actual elements used which create weird and ironic subjects is quite 'bauhausy' in a way.

Our Red Car

When i saw this on youtube, i instantly thought of our first idea of a red car and what could of happened!
I wonder what we would of produced if we had stuck with that first idea!

Sarah Hanson

I was looking on the AOI website and I came across an illustrator called Sarah Hanson. If you like collage work, you might like her portfolio - some really cool stuff.
But this piece in particular reminded me of the door. Even though nothing on it is over lapped, the look of it kind of reminded me of our layered door!

Door test 1

This is an initial test of stop motion into the door, but it didn't work! Instead we had a play with using the digital zoom.

Here is the digital zoom:

Nice Animation

This is a great example of animated elements within a piece. The way that the tattoos come alive is similar to the way that we have been discussing hings moving within the stop motion piece of the door.

The idea of a door ...

This morning I was on the bus and there was a lady who was blind, with a guide dog. As she got off the bus she followed her dog off, feeling for the edge of the doors. As she made her way through them it got me thinking about how interesting it was that the lady was making her way through the door, without seeing it. She obviously knew it was there, its just that she wasn't able to see it..

..... it's strange what you notice when you start a project and start looking for different things, (just realised that it sounds like a story/joke, it's not, it happened!)

Research - background audio

This song has a nogalistic feel, the video also reminds me of what were doing for our projects in terms of watching a life grow.

Research - background audio

Another Sigur Ros song, I think this one has more potential as it's just instrumental.

Research - background audio

This audio reminds me of life and new beginnings but might be a bit light for the project if we're going for a nogalistic feel.
